HDB HOUSEHOLDS TO GET UTILITY REBATES NEXT MONTH

HDB HOUSEHOLDS TO GET UTILITY REBATES NEXT MONTH

Housing Development Board (HDB) households can expect smaller bills next month when the government offers rebates for utility, service and conservancy charges.

According to the Ministry of Finance, approximately 800,000 HDB households will benefit from the rebate, a first under the Grow and Share package announced at 2011’s Budget in February.

HDB households will obtain S$31 million and S$163 million in rebates on service and conservancy charges (S&CC) and Utilities-Save (U-Save) respectively.

“The U-Save and S&CC rebates in Grow & Share aim to help households, especially lower income households, cope with rising costs, including higher utilities bills due to the increases in electricity tariffs,” said the Finance Ministry.

For example, a four-room flat will obtain S$220 in U-Save rebates and a one-month waiver of the S&CC, which varies with different estates but is normally below S$100 per month.

Unused U-Save rebates each month will be carried over to the following month.

Other rebates will be made in June, September and December for S&CC and in July for U-Save.
