CIRCLE LINE NOW FULLY UP AND RUNNING
The Circle Line rail network is now fully operational, with the opening of the remaining 12 stations from Caldecott to HarbourFront last Saturday.
Claiming the lives of four people during a highway collapse in 2004, the 28-station train line took an entire decade to complete. The line stretches around the island, taking commuters from Dhoby Ghaut in the south, through the eastern, northern and western districts to its last stop at HarbourFront station in just 58 minutes.
“This has been a day that we have waited for a very long time,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, during his speech at the line’s official opening at the new Botanic Gardens station.

The government expects daily ridership to hit approximately 400,000 commuters within six to nine months of operation.
The new Circle Line is also expected to lessen commuter traffic on the North-South and East-West lines by up to 15 percent.
