In his President’s Address for the opening of Parliament on
16 May, President Tony Tan (pictured) said the government will continue to keep
housing affordable for all Singaporeans, including helping low- and
middle-income households to own HDB flats, and build up a nest-egg for
retirement.
Extended families can look forward to living closer to each
other with new housing options. Mr. Tan added the government will continue to upgrade HDB heartlands and neighborhoods, and integrate them with green corridors and waterways, as well as sports and leisure facilities.
To ensure the elderly have enough for their financial needs
in their golden years, more options will be developed for them to unlock the
value of their homes in their retirement.
